Recommit to Jesus
Sometimes in our journey with Jesus, we drift away or feel distant from Him. It's easy to get distracted by life or find ourselves off track, but God is always waiting with open arms. If you've accepted Jesus, you are saved — nothing can change that. However, there may be moments when we need to rededicate ourselves to following Him more fully. Recommitting isn’t about being saved again but about refocusing on Jesus and renewing your relationship with Him.
Key Verse:
Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This verse reminds us that God’s love is unchanging. No matter what happens, nothing can separate you from Him. Once you are saved, you are always His.
Why Recommit?
1. To Refocus on Jesus
When we feel distant from God, it’s not because He left us — it's often because we've drifted. Recommitting is about refocusing our attention on Jesus and following His direction again.
2. To Renew Your Purpose
As we grow, we can forget or lose sight of our purpose as followers of Jesus. Recommitting is a way to realign ourselves with God’s will for our lives.
3. To Strengthen Your Faith
When you rededicate yourself, it's an opportunity to strengthen your faith, knowing that God never stopped working in your life.
Practical Steps for Recommitting Your Life to Christ
1. Confess and Repent
While you are already forgiven in Christ, it’s important to acknowledge where you’ve strayed and ask God for forgiveness. Confessing helps clear the air and set a fresh foundation.
1 John 1:9 (NIV): “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
Action Step: Take time in prayer, asking God to reveal areas where you’ve drifted and turn those back over to Him.
2. Reprioritize Jesus in Your Life
When we get busy, it’s easy to lose sight of Jesus as our priority. Recommitting means making time for Him every day and choosing to let Him guide your decisions.
Matthew 6:33 (NIV): “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Action Step: Schedule time daily for prayer and reading scripture. Let it be the first thing you do to set the tone for the day.
3. Surround Yourself with Community
We can’t walk this journey alone. We need others to encourage us, hold us accountable, and help us grow.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV): “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.”
Action Step: Make it a priority to come to church! We have MSM and life group to help you grow alongside other Christians your age!
Conclusion
Recommitting your life to Christ is a powerful step in your faith journey. You are already secure in His love and salvation, but this is about renewing your dedication to follow Him with your whole heart. Take it one step at a time, knowing that God is always with you, guiding and strengthening you.
